He is a faculty member at Geography Department, Florida State University in the United States. He received higher education from China, Holland, and USA. Dr. Yang’s research interest includes the development of remote sensing and spatial information technologies for monitoring, synthesis and modeling in the urban environment.  His research has been funded with competitive grants from NASA, NSF, EPA, and among others. Dr. Yang has authored or co-authored more than 70 publications including two edited volumes on urban remote sensing.  He has been a guest editor for ISPRS Journal of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, Photogrametrical Engineering and Remote Sensing, International Journal of Remote Sensing, and Computer, Environment and Urban Systems. He has served in the scientific committee of the 4th  and 5th  International Conferences on Urban Remote Sensing, and currently in the technical committee of 4th IEEE GRSS/ISPRS Joint Workshop on Remote Sensing and Data Fusion over Urban Areas. Dr. Yang has organized numerous special conference paper sessions on Urban Remote Sensing since 2000.
